About Us

My name is Katie and in December 2018 I volunteered at a conservation programme in Borneo where I was luckily enough to see the beautiful Orangutans in their wild habitat.  Unfortunately at the same time I also witnessed the amount of land that has been cleared to make way for palm oil plantations.

In awe of these beautiful animals I made a conscious decision to try and lower my palm oil consumption. After returning back to the UK I struggled and spent hours and hours of searching through hundreds of websites, scrolling Instagram and contacting brands (it was a bit of a minefield) looking for products that were palm oil free... This gave me the inspiration to start The Orange Orangutan. 

I wanted to create a community to allow networking, build awareness and enable consumers to purchase palm oil free products all in one easy place.  5% of all profits are donated (we will be looking to increase this number as we grow) to Orangutan Foundation, www.organutang.org.uk
